Our projects are completed from pure concept unless samples are first provided by the client. Self-proclaimed "graphic artist" on the other hand may try to fool you by presenting someone else's design as their own. The general practice might be to add text (perhaps your company name) to the artwork amounting to copyright infringement and theft. If you become suspicious about the originality of the work, ask to have the image re-sized larger and the background color changed to something other than white. If in fact it was someone else's work, the original art will be difficult to quickly modify, perhaps showing fragments of a border as the artwork could not be cleanly separated from the original background.
